WTF! Must wait till January for Tax Refund? What to do?

So got my pension refund fine. Sent in my documents and tax representative got it fine. He went into the city tax office whereby was told to wait until January next year this obviously contradicts CLAIR's info that WE DO NOT NEED TO WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR JANUARY. WTF!!!

Is this right? Do we or do we not have to wait?


If not wheres the proof both in english and japanese maybe website links etc? Any keywords that he should be saying to city tax office?

I got mine (80%) earlier this year and then got my tax refund in July. Easy peasy.

Did you bother to contact someone? You can't expect them to track you down and give you a tonne of cash if you cabn't be bothered to ask someone about it.

I was like Goon. Got mine all with no problems in the fall I think it was.

Oh and mine nearly doubled when the aussie dollar took a dive to 57 yenz a dollar compared with weak yen the ENTIRE time I was working in Japan.

Still haven't heard back from my school about the second refund. I wonder if I should find out now or wait til I move back over there in April . . .

Ohh, my successor talked to my teacher and it sounds like I'm going to get the 2nd part of my refund back! 150,000 yen! Now I'm thinking I should just have them save it for me until I arrive in April for my new job instead of paying the fees to have it sent to me now. The Japanese IRS sure took their damn sweet time . . .

Question: I received my notice of lump sum withdrawl, and the date printed on it was Feb 15th, 2010, and the notice, very vaguely, says that the money will be deposited sometime after the date printed on the form. Nice. Does anyone have any idea how long after receiving the notice it should take for the money to be deposited to my bank account? I'm just praying that all of my bank account information is correct, and hope I didn't make a mistake that's holding this whole thing up. blah!

It's going to magically show up there, seriously. I got my notice, but it was after a few weeks. If you don't get anything by the end of March, worry and follow up.
